Singer Mnqobi Yazo joins The River as Steven
Singer Mnqobi Yazo real name Mnqobi Ndunakazi is the latest addition to the cast of The River on 1Magic.
The 1Magic telenovela is headed for interesting times as the musician joins the show as Steven. The character Steven is a former Khanyisa Diamonds employee who has some resentment issues towards Zolani. He will also be one of Mohumi’s henchmen.
Mohumi will be portrayed by Seputla Sebogodi. Mohumi is a man who used to work in the mine and is tied to the late Thato Mokoena.
Mohumi is coming to take on Lindiwe Dikana, Seputla Sebogodi is popular for his role on the old Generations where he played the role of businessman Keneth Mashaba.
Sebogodi joins The River cast where his eldest son Thapelo Sebogodi plays the role of Khabzela.
Mnqobi Yazo is signed to popular music manager, Senelisiwe Bhengu. He describes his music as a fusion of Maskandi Pop and Tribal. He burst onto the music scene in 2018 with his smash hit ‘247’ which is track 6 of his 9-track debut EP titled Iscephu.
He played the character of ‘Nyandeni’ on Ukhozi FM’s radio drama, Buchitheka bugayiwe. He studied Performing Arts at Creative Arts College. He is also a writer and director who has submitted his work at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown. The name of the shows that he submitted were; Asazi and Inyathuko.
The musician says he started as a rapper in High School. He said he would bunk classes to go to the studio. As a result of missing classes, he ended up failing grade 11.
