When did Sindi Dlathu get a breakthrough?

When she was twelve years old, she auditioned for a talent competition called AShell Road Fame, but she did not win. However, her exposure during this gig earned her mentorship from one of the Mbhaqanga band members, Mahotella Queens. Later on, she took part in the national miming competitions when she was fifteen years old and won. From there onwards, she never turned back.

Mzansi’s darling, Sindi Dlathu, performed most of her early acts under the Legendary Mbongeni Ngema’s committed artists from 1988 to 1996 as an understudy to Sarafina. They toured the USA with the play, and upon returning to South Africa, she went back to school to complete her matric. In 1997, she joined the play ‘The Game’ by Duma Ka Ndlovu, and during that period, she went on stage with legends such as Mary Twala, Abigail Kubeka and Nomhle Nkonyeni. Afterwards, she was cast in Muvhango since its inception in 1997, and she exited in 2018. She played Nomthandazo “Thandaza” Buthelezi and shot to limelight with the show.
