Babes and her mother-in-law continue to disagree. Recently, her mother-in-law stated that she would only be able to forgive her if she paid compensation. “She needs to pay damages, for the profanities, she needs to pay,” she said. As Zama pointed out, she is not Babes Wodumo’s friend; instead, she is her mother-in-law.
The relationship between Wodumo and her mother-in-law Zamanguni Gumede is still rocky. Babes’ family was insulted by Zama, who claimed that her father was a crook and accused Babes of fabricating her pregnancy.
In the first episode of season 2 of their Showmax Original reality series, Babes acknowledged that she made a mistake by publicly humiliating her mother-in-law. She claimed that because her in-laws did not treat her well, she was hurt. She continued, “I was also wrong. I did all that because I was hurting inside…I’m very disappointed. Not being accepted by my in-laws is painful. Other girls are adored by their mothers-in-law; they embrace them. Mine has never embraced me. Instead, I was greeted with a profanity-filled video.”
Babes accused Zama of leaving her 3-day-old son Mampintsha behind. She also talked about the time she called her grandson “Spontshi,” but Babes countered that the “sponge” messes up diapers and acts like a baby.”She can’t mess with me; I’ll get her. Babes claim she was drunk when she said what her husband Mampintsha, who stood up for her, said she had not meant to say. Zama expressed her displeasure with Babes’ behaviour, saying, “I was irritated. I experienced contempt. I am your mother, and you are my son. I should be treated with respect. She is not my friend. I am here, mother-in-law. She should have cursed at me on the phone rather than on social media, in my opinion. She had lost her mind.”
The intensity of their argument reached a point where Zama may have even disowned Babes. The underlying reason for this, in addition to Zama disliking Babes and disapproving of her, is the alleged unpaid Showmax payments owed to Zama and Mampintsha’s sister Pinkie. According to reports, Zama told the media that she despises Babes because she thinks Babes mistreats her son and that she already knew Babes was misbehaving toward her. She stated: “Babes is not a good wife. She abuses my son, so I never want to see her again.” She seems to have insulted Babes, so she might also be required to make reparations.
