Zondi as Malume Zondi in Scandal
Malume Jake is Mbali’s uncle who will do anything for a payday and to have a bottle in his hand, always drinking. When the Kubekas started asking to meet Mbali’s family to pay her bride price, she reached out to her uncle to act as her father. Together they all rented a suburban house where the negotiations were held, and they got away with it.
The lie was short-lived, however, when Kubekas started having financial problems. This led Jojo to reach out to his wife and ask for her help to get her parents to invest in his business which she refused, knowing well enough that they were poor. Jojo went behind Mbali’s back, visited the house he paid lobola in, and found out that he had been played as his inlaws did not live there.
When he spotted Malume Jake in a bar and followed him home, Jojo realised how much he had been lied to. So he took Mbali to that house, and Malume Jake arrived drunk at a lousy time and spilt the whole can of beans. He not only confessed about not being rich but also that he was not Mbali’s father but her uncle, and now his niece is about to get divorced.
Siphesihle Zondi is a preacher in real-life
Zondi, the actor who takes on the role of Malume Jake, is a Jack of all trades as he has his hands in almost everything. Siphesihle Zondi’s occupation when he is not acting has shocked his fans. His primary source of income is through his acting on Scandal, and the showrunners pay him well for his role. However, this is not all he does to earn money, as he uses his fame in motivational speaking and even directing.
However, what shocked many of his fans is that he is a preacher when he is not acting during weekends. The actor, who grew up in a Christian home, is a firm believer in God and shares the word on the pulpit some Sundays at church. Zondi joins the pool of actors who are also preachers like Mpumi Mpama, Maumela Mahuwa and many more.
