Born in an impoverished family she makes bad decisions that lead her to fall pregnant at the age of 14. With no vision whatsoever, she gets knocked up again and welcomes her second child at 19. “My parents tried so hard to show me the right path, but I was young and naive,” she says. Second chances are hard to come by and she falls pregnant again after her parents send her back to school. “I was ashamed of what people would say, so I never went back to school and never got my matric.”
Life takes a turn for the worst as she has to live with the father of her fourth child after her parents die. Knowing she has no qualifications to equip her for a decent job, she anticipates to be a janitor. Her life takes a positive turn when she accompanies her friend, Winnie Khumalo, to an audition.“When we got to the audition, Winnie asked me to queue for her while she was busy with other things. When I got close to the door, one of the directors asked me to audition,” Sana says. This marks her breakthrough.
