Salaries: Hlelo ‘Nothando Ngcobo’ salary at Uzalo shocks Mzansi
No doubt fortune favours the bold. Nothando Ngcobo is a South African fast-rising actress best known for her on-screen character Hlelo, on Mzansi’s most-watched drama series Uzalo. However, she also stars on Lingashoni as Prudence Thabethe.
We can all agree that her gig on Uzalo was her road to fame. Since then, she has managed to find feet into the booming entertainment industry.
On Uzalo, she stars as a broken soul that left home after a series of abuse. She later found herself in the big city and trying to make ends meet. Onset, she helped out Gabisile role played by Baby Cele. Since then, she has managed to live a soft life.
Many questions have been asked about who is Hlelo in real life. The fast-rising actress was born in Hammarsdale, Mpumalanga. However, a few years later, she saw herself enrolling for a degree in Media and Creative Arts.
However, before her Uzalo gig, the actress was rejected by Generations as a supporting cast member. Rumour has it that the show producers denied her because she “didn’t fit the character”.

The role was later filled by Buntu Petse, who plays the role of Nontle Majola, the biological daughter of Ayanda Majola and Tau Mogale.
Speaking about the humiliating incident describing the rejection ordeal, Nothando revealed that she nearly gave up acting despite what she had wanted to do since childhood.
“ In the early stages of my career, I suffered a lot of rejection and humiliation to the extent of nearly giving up on my dream. But I trust God wanted me to go through all that so that when He raise me, I glorify His name, I have managed to overcome rejection through prayer and accepting that some of the jobs I had auditioned for were just not for me at the time”, she said.
However, since his thrust into the limelight, Nothando Ngcobo has it that she has been receiving some career paths mentorship with Abdul Khoza. He is best known for his star performances on Isibaya, Uzalo and recently Kings of Joburg.
In the wake of her newfound fame, many questions have been asked about how much the fast-rising actress earns from Uzalo. It has been reported that her Hlelo on-screen character Nothando Ngcobo is paid around R35 000 per month.
