Gomora is famous for hiring highly educated cast members, and it’s without a doubt that MaSonto and Thathi are highly educated. On set, MaSonto is a car hijacking superintended who runs a workshop with more than five employees, but the actress is an academic intellectual in real life. She did her matric in Eastern Cape and registered for tertiary education, where she graduated with a Teaching Degree in 1976. The actress started teaching at government schools for 11 years and later moved to Greece for greener pastures.
On the other hand, like on set, Thathi is an educational genius with education certificates to show for it. She holds a BA in Theater and Performance from the University of Cape Town. Thathi also has a diploma in Management Studies from Wits Business School.
