Unathi Nkayi has been making headlines lately, and she is famous for calling out other celebrities online. As someone who is very vocal about her opinions, she has faced a lot of backlash from fans. This morning, news broke out that Kaya 959, a radio station, has fired the SA Idols Judge Unathi Nkayi.
Unathi, who had been hosting the Midday Joy show, which aired on weekdays from 12 pm to 3 pm, has been let go from being relieved from her duties prematurely. Kaya 959 issued a statement that stated that Unathi was fired for lousy conduct. Still, the radio station did not detail the issues that led to the end of their relationship.

The TV presenter has been employed at Kaya 959 since last year, and her midday show has seen her interviewing many celebrities like the Modiselle sisters. Her career has presented on YFM and Metro FM for 16 years and three years, respectively.
Unathi’s fallout with somizi
Recently when an American RnB singer was found guilty of sex trafficking, Unathi took to Instagram to say that any of her friends who play the singer’s songs will be unfriended. After fans attacked her, saying she was a hypocrite since she was friends with the likes of Jub Jub, who has been convicted before and Somizi, who was accused of abuse, she went on to say that she was not friends with any of those celebrities. She does not even follow her former workmate on her social media handles.
Unathi’s career on Television
Besides being a great radio host, the star is also excellent on Television. She hosted the Television series, Popstars alongside Rowan Cloete. Unathi is the longest judge to hold a seat at Idols SA with nine seasons now and counting. She gained status internationally after she voiced the character on Disney’s Doc McStuffins. Her song Sghubu is a soundtrack on an Oscar-winning Mzansi film called Tsotsi.
