Public accuses the Government for selectively enforcing lockdown rules
After the Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the arrest of 10 people at a vuzu party in Emganwini Bulawayo, the public goes on to accuse the Government for selectively enforcing lockdown rules.
In a statement the Zimbabwe Republic Police said,
“The ZRP is warning members of the public against vuzu parties and breaking lockdown regulations. On 06/02/21 10 people were arrested for holding a vuzu party at Emganwini, Suburbs Bulawayo. At the time of arrest a cooler box and empty bottles of 750mls blended whisky were recovered. “
Immediately after noticing the post, the public went on to highlight that the Government is enforcing the lockdown rules selectively.
Taking to twitter the public says,
” Why didn’t you arrest Zanu PF Member of Parliament Musanhi who held a rally recently? Why didn’t you arrest Kida Tagwirei who held a new year’s party which violated the COVID-19 lockdown regulations?”
“This is nonsense other top officials are holding meetings and rallies while you watch.”
“Your law only applies to the poor Zimbabweans”
“Recently some civilians were recorded fighting with the police over an unknown matter. These are some of the signs of anger towards the selective law enforcing”
“Why didn’t you arrest MP Musanhi who held a rally last week in Bindura? Police shouljf be there to protect the citizens not selectively apply the law.”
Public accuses the Government for selectively enforcing lockdown rules
Team Pindula on twitter posts a video of the rally held by Hon Musanhi. In the video there are many of his supporters exceeding the required number of people per gathering. It is crystal clear that the lockdown regulations were ignored.
This comes after the President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa addressed the nation emphasizing on the fact that COVID-19 virus is not selective.
“The virus knows no race, colour or social standing as it is deadly,” President Mnangagwa said.
We have seen how true the President’s statement is as the nation has lost some prominent Ministers in the past weeks. The late Foreign Affairs Minister SB Moyo, Transport Minister Biggie Matiza, Manicaland Provincial Minister Ellen Gwaradzimba among other high profile people free succumbed to the virus.
