Zimbabwe has been blessed with plenty rains this year. However, too much of everything has consequences. Flooding has been a problem in many parts of the country destroying roads, houses and crops. Kanyemba village falls on the list of areas recently hit by floods.
Kanyemba is a village in the province of Mashonaland Central, Zimbabwe. It is located on the south bank of the Zambezi river at the extreme northernmost point of Zimbabwe at the meeting point of the Zimbabwean, Mozambican and Zambian borders
Although remote, Kanyemba is a focal point for fishing and hunting activities in the nearby Dande Safari Area, and the end-point for long-haul canoe safaris along the Zambezi River starting from Chirundu or Mana Pools.
With others expecting bumper harvest all over Zimbabwe, farmers in Kanyemba have been unfortunate with their crops succumbing to flooding. The pictures circulating on social media show damaged houses and flooded resort homes. In other parts of the village sources say roads have been damaged which is affecting the transportation of goods and services.

In other parts of Zimbabwe, Kariba is really bearing the brunt of the incessant rains. Crops and infrastructure are being laid to waste. The worst hit is the road to Mola at Ndepa Mountain range where mud, debris, boulders and trees dumped on the road have cut off the community from the rest of the country.
Recently in Manicaland two main highway roads have collapsed due to the heavy rains. The other incident along Chimanimani-Skyline highway claimed the life of a civilian. Mudslides were also reported in the Eastern Highlands filled with mountains and hills.
Flooding in rivers has also claimed people in Chiredzi and Gweru. In Gweru a Toyota double cab with 6 people was swept away by a river. Only a few bodies were recovered.
