Age, Education and Upbringing
Pallance Dladla was born on the 22nd of August 1982 in Soweto. He was raised by his grandfather who named him after his favourite actor Jack Palance. The Shadow actor matriculated at Parktown Boys’ High School which is also where he began taking acting seriously and getting the recognition he deserved.

Whilst Pallance Dladla was in high school he won the Parktown Boys High Original Script Award along with the Best Actor Award. It’s clear that his career began at a young age with him being the runner up of the Milk and Bread nationwide DALRO scholarship competition in 2010, where his self-penned play was a runner up. Dladla also won big in a DALRO associated competition with him winning the Most Prestigious Best Actor Award in the ACT/DALRO/Nedbank Scholarships Development.
Pallance’s breakthrough came when he made an impromptu decision to audition for Class Act in 2011. He had the long run and managed to come up as runner up to his now friend and former co-star Abdul Khoza. Class Act was an acting talent search broadcast by SABC 1. The show gave Dladla the push he needed because in 2012 he played a starring role as ‘Jimmy’ in the e.tv drama series “4Play: Sex Tips for Girls” in Season 3. That same year, he had a cameo role as ‘Mohato’ in the British drama series “Wild at Heart”.
In 2013, Pallance played the role of ‘Sizwe’ on “Intersexions” a drama-series on SABC 1. In the same year he starred as the character of ‘X’ on Tempy Pushas a comedy-drama from the same channel. Dladla managed land a starring role in the Mzansi Magic soap-opera “Isibaya” shortly after, where he portrays the character ‘Jabulani “Jabu” Zungu’. He was part of the original cast since the show began. There were rumours that Pallance was part of a string of actors that were leaving the show but all things were cleared up. The production team revealed that Dladla took a break, which he has done before, to further his education and experience in the US but unfortunately could not make it back on schedule because of the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
Dladla received acclaim for his performance as a supporting actor in the action movie iNumber Number in 2013.
In June 2014, Dladla appeared in another soapie. This time he took over as ‘Sibusiso Vilakazi’ on e.tv’s Rhythm City. In addition, he was cast in the romantic drama film ‘Hard to Get’. The film garnered a range of positive user reviews. From 2016 to 2017, the Shadow actor had a recurring role as ‘Duke’ in the Mzansi Magic drama “Is’thunzi”.
In 2019, Dladla starred in the Netflix thriller series Shadow as title character ‘Shadrach “Shadow” Khumalo’. Shadow was Netflix’s first South African original series and it premiered on 8 March 2019

The third is the Best Actor Award of the internationally recognized Scholarship Program.
Later on in his career Pallance won the Golden Horn Award for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Drama Series in 2013 for his performance in “4Play: Sex Tips for Girls”. In 2018 he won the Golden Horn Award for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Soap for his role as ‘Jabu’ in Isibaya.
