Outrage after Natasha Thahane received R1 million government funding after phone call to Baleka Mbete

Famous actress Natasha Thahane just revealed that she made one phone call and got over R1 million rands funding from the government after she called Baleka Mbete. Twitter will not stop breathing down her neck until they get answers about how that happened when so many students struggle to obtain funds!

Natasha Thahane is a brilliant actress. She has been on numerous popular TV shows and many Lokshin Biskops. Natasha rose to fame because of the role on Skeem Saam, where she played the role of a rich girl. Her name was Enhle. Enhle was Tbose’s girlfriend in the show. After that, she moved on to many more popular shows. She joined The Queen in 2016 and played the role of Amogelang Maake, the daughter of a police officer, except she fell in love with a boy whose family deals with drugs, her father’s biggest rivalry.

Blood and Water

She is currently on Blood and Water as Wendy Dlamini, a rich high school girl who is very annoying and wants everything to go her way. With all that experience, one would assume Natasha didn’t need any drama school or practising, but in 2017 she enrolled in an acting school in the USA. The school is called New York Film Academy. She wanted to become the best and perfect her craft, so she moved to the USA only for a few years to study.

Natasha was congratulated at the time for getting a scholarship.

People flooded her Instagram and Twitter with congratulatory messages. The whole of Mzansi was proud of her. To be accepted to a school overseas is a huge deal. But in a recent interview with MacG, she revealed where she obtained her funding as going to an overseas school does not come cheap. Natasha confessed that she got her funding to study due to speaking to Baleka Mbete, a politician. She said she called the politician and explained her issue, and everything was sorted out just like that. She obtained funding over a single phone call, with no applications whatsoever.

She revealed that the Department of Arts and Culture through Baleka Mbete sorted out everything for her rapidly. Many tweeps complained that so many students out there need funding and are qualified, but they do not get the same treatment as Natasha. Most of them had a problem with this as they saw it as “privilege” and completely wrong!
