Benjamin Dube was born on 23 January 1962 in Johannesburg, South Africa. He celebrated his 60th year birthday in January. The star was raised in a Christian home as his father was a Reverend and his mother, a singer at the Assemblies of God church led by the late Bishop Nicholas Bhengu.
His music interest started at an early age, and he went on master how to play drums and guitars. At seven, he was already performing at church with his parents and siblings; they became famous as the Dube Family singers.
Benjamin’s dream of being a star almost ended when his father was gruesomely murdered in 1976. His father’s death affected him negatively, but fortunately, his family and siblings encouraged him to move on with his life. This led the family to tour the Netherlands, where they sang and shared stories of their father’s death. Afterwards, Dube’s family released an album titled Vader Vergeef which means Father Forgives.
