Early Life and Education
Okmalumkoolkat had a passion for music since childhood and wrote songs from an early age eagerly waiting for his chance. After finishing High school, Okmalumkoolkat proceeded to Vega School of Communication, studying Art Designing. Afterwards, he moved to Johannesburg to showcase his art designing skills. Whilst in Johannesburg, he was roommates with Doctor Spizee who also loved music, and they formed dirty Paraffin and released a few singles. Okmalumkoolkat took art designing seriously, and he designed for several companies including Nike. Eventually he started designing album art covers and getting close to artists.

The Koolkat first appeared in the industry when he featured in Cassper Nyovest’s song ‘Gusheshe‘ which was a hit in 2013. Afterwards, he released his debut EP titled Holly Oxygen in 2014 which did well. The following year, 2015, he dropped a jam packed, awesome mixtape titled ‘100k MaCasette’. Consequently, it won the Mixtape of the year at 2015 SA hip hop Awards. In 2016, he released his first official album ‘Mlazi Milano’ which sold well and was certified ‘Gold’. In addition, Okmalumkoolkat dropped Holly Oxygen II in 2017. Furthermore, in 2020, Okmalumkoolkat recently dropped another EP titled ‘Bhlomington’. The EP features ‘Drip siphi iskhorobho’ a song that’s making waves on social platforms with a great video. This proves that the Koolkat is still in the game.

Throughout his career, Okmalumkoolkat collaborated with a lot of established artists the likes of AKA, Ricky Rick, Sho Madjozi, JR and K.O. Similary, he has also featured on other artsists’ songs for instance DJ Speedsta’s ‘combos are communicating and Cassper Nyovest’s ‘Gusheshe’.

Sadly, yes, he was jailed for acts of indecent assault on a female musician in Hobard Australia. After a performance at the Mona Foma Annual Music Festival (MOFO), Okmalumkoolkat returned drunk to his hotel and couldn’t find his room. He somehow gained entry into a fellow musician’s room and began kissing and touching her without her consent. Okmalumkoolkat was sentenced to six months in jail but five months were suspended. It was a huge blow to ‘Gqi’ hit maker.

The clothing line consists of sneakers, t-shirts, track suits, gym wear and a lot of products. Okmalumkolkat made use of his past designing contracts with Nike to collaborate on the spova Nike sneakers. Way to go ghetto child.
