Health Minister Dr Obadiah Moyo is facing the boot just after he was stripped of the chairmanship of the Covid-19 Taskforce.
Sources suggests the army chiefs are not convinced with the way Moyo has handled labour issues and the general preparedness of the country. President Emmerson Mnangagwa responded to the army chiefs concerns by replacing Moyo with Vice President Constantino Chiwenga as head of Covid-19 Taskforce.
Zimbabwe doctors and nurses downed tools last week as they cited lack of protective clothing and an unfair compensation. Obadiah Moyo is yet to speak to the public about labour issues crippling his ministry.
Moyo have also failed to deal with health workers industrial action in the past.
Zimbabweans are now skeptical about the involvement of Chiwenga. The last time he intervened in the salary negotiations with nurses, he fired them all. The incident can be recalled by his famous statement ‘ the doctor is a skilled technician, or labourer whose knowledge fits him for an occupation but not a profession’
