Nina Mkhize joins Uzalo as Belinda Mncube
The singer turned actress Nina Mkhize has joined the cast of Uzalo as Belinda Mncube.
Mncube is MaNgcobo’s new friend who seems to have bad habits like smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol.
Nina Mkhize made her first appearance on the show on the episode that aired on Monday night. The previous episode saw the return of MaNgcobo into the Uzalo storyline.
MaNgcobo befriended Belinda whilst she was away and it is this friendship which she says carried her through all that time away from her partner Nkunzi. She says she still loves her estranged partner.
Her new friend Belinda Mncube offered her advice on how to be a strong and independent woman. Belinda also tried to empower MaNgcobo so that she can leave her partner in the past once and for all but it seems like she failed.
She also offered MaNgcobo shelter until she got back to her feet. Watch a snippet of her acting on Uzalo below:
This is not Nina’s first acting role. She appeared on Imbewu as Detective Duduzane.
Mkhize grew up in Umlazi in Durban. Her mother introduced her to music at a tender age. She used to urge her to perform family, friends, and relatives during family gatherings.
Whilst in high school she formed a group similar to the American RnB group SWV. At this point in her life, she attended the UDW Music Project, an initiative by the Volkswagen Motor Company where she received formal instruction in music theory, aural perception, appreciation, and performance.
Mkhize pursued music at Natal Tech after high school, where she graduated with a National Diploma in Light Music. Whilst ay Natal Tech she became leading and backing vocals for the internationally acclaimed ‘Shuttle Band’.
She has been honored for her music having bagged two Old Mutual National Jazz Encounters awards.
