Mzansi becomes EP land as Sho Madjozi and Boity release their music projects
Ke December boss! Everybody is waiting for the December tune, you know, the one that tops the charts and gets us on our feet. All musicians envy that spot and work hard in the studio for it. Will Sho Madjozi be the one to light up the holidays or will fellow boss lady Boity take that crown? All in all we are excited to see what’s in store for us with these two projects .
Sho Madjozi’s ‘What A Life’ EP is making waves
The ‘John Cena’ hit-maker announced the release of an EP about a month ago. This follows the success of her single ‘John Cena’ and her debut album ‘Limpopo Champions League’. This EP is set to explore Sho Madjozi’s life and what she thinks about her homeland South Africa. This 9 track project features names like Makhadzi, Thomas Chauke, Russian Army, Manu Worldstar and DJ Mfundisi.
Here is the track list:
- Ni Langha Wihi
- Dyisa Squad (feat. Sunglen Chabalala)
- Shahumba (feat. Thomas Chauke)
- Sena Ala
- Di Hawks
- Jamani
- Tsha Dovha (feat. Makhadzi & Manu WorldStar)
- Amajoy (feat. Russian Army)
- January (feat. Dj Mfundhisi)
The ‘What A Life’ cover is exactly what you would expect from Sho Madjozi, colourful and load with Tsonga cultural references. The project comes after the rapper joined Epic Records the recording company that has heavy weight names such as Future, 21 Savage and Travis Scott.
The song ‘Di Hawks’ is a slow-paced social commentary on the corruption that ravages South Africa however, ‘Jamani’ comes in to give Sho Madjozi fans an idea of what she wants in a man. The ‘What A Life’ EP is mix of distinct sounds and voices which is right up Sho Madjozi’s lane. The EP was released on the 27th of November and so far it is doing very well. ‘What A Life’ is the second most streamed project worldwide on Apple iTunes.
Boity is here to stay and slay in the South African rap scene
On the 4th of December this Friday, Boitumelo ‘Boity’ Thulo will be releasing her EP ‘#4436’. The name of the EP is taken from the house number of her grandmother’s home in Potchefstroom where she grew up. #4436 follows a series of hits since making her rap debut in 2018 with ‘Wuz Dat’ featuring Nasty C. The track is included in the project as well as 8 other tracks featuring artists like Riky Rick, Yanga Chief, Maglera Doe Boy, Ginger Trill, and Maggz. The EP was produced by pH Raw X, Bash Jameson and Reason.
It should be known that the release date was not the date Boity had in mind but the rapper cited that issues with Def Jam Africa caused the delays. Regardless a lot of fans took to Twitter to show their excitement for the project. Boity also has famous supporters and fans such as Bonang Matheba, Pearl Modiadie and Thando Thabethe who showed their love and support on social media.
We are most definitely excited for both the ladies and we don’t doubt that their talent will shine through in their projects. Don’t forget to comment what you think about either or both of these projects.
