Reports indicate that there was a sexual harassment incident at Muvhango’s production offices. The incident has since been under investigation through internal processes in the media company since yesterday.
According to Entertainment Commentator and TV Host Kgopolo Mphela, the Wednesday incident is alleged to have been physical. Mphela said it was not rape but there was physical contact. The accused is alleged to have even joked about sexual harassment whilst committing the act. With the nature of the incident, the perpetrator is reported to have been fully aware that they were sexually harassing a colleague.
Meanwhile the soapie Muvhango has responded to my query sent to them about the sexual misconduct allegations at their production offices. They said they are fully aware of the incident and they have appointed an independent mediator in the matter.
They sent a statement to Kgopolo Mphela who inquired about the matter:
“We are aware of the incident and we are following an internal HR process. We have appointed an independent mediator to assist us in resolving the matter. We can also confirm that consultations have taken place this morning between the victim and the alleged perpetrator. We appreciate the interest from the media but we feel that we need to give the process the space it requires to ensure a fair outcome”.
