Ministry of Home affairs rubbishes the claim that passports are ready for collection
Yesterday a picture was circulating on social media claiming that passport applied from 2019 up to February 2020 were ready for collection. Lots of Zimbabweans were pleased with such news. However, this turns out to be false. The Ministry of Home Affairs and cultural heritage has issued a press statement claiming the picture is fake.
The statement reads,
“The attention of Civil Registry Department and the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage has been drawn to the fake news advising persons to go and collect their passports applied in 2019 up to February 2020, to collect their documents from Makombe offices from 15 March 2021. This is not true and any information from the Facebook post is not authentic.”
Many Zimbabwean who were happy to finally collect their passports are not very pleased. Taking to social media some are blaming the government for poor service delivery to civilians. Here are some of the comments:
Ministry of Home affairs rubbishes the claim that passports are ready for collection
“So this means that chances of getting 2019 passports are slim to none meaning that when we get them they will be close to expiring years. Even if we are not traveling at least can the Department”
“It’s not the department it is the culture of frustrating citizens that make it easier for citizens to pay so they can get a timely service…coz time is money and the Zanu pf government dont value the time of citizens anywhere…from birth certificate, ids, driver’s licence”
“The nation knows this very well however the staff at these offices make it impossible for one to access the services until one pays them that extra illegal fee. We just need an overhaul in that office. And they are very rude and mean.”
