South Africans are now accusing business man and former Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister of Education Mduduzi Manana for lying in a bid to protect Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams from being disciplined for breaking lockdown rules.
Manana apologised through a circular to all media houses on his foundation’s letter head:
On the 5th of April 2020, I received a call from the Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Ms Stella Ndaben1Abrahams, who informed me that she is visiting a site in the Fourways area where a number of students are working on the Covid.19 Digital Services. The Minister relayed to me that the students are in need of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks, gloves and hand sanitizers which my foundation has been handing over to marginalized communities. l then asked the minister to pass by my private residence and collect the material which she gladly did.
On her arrival, my fami, was having lunch and I courteous, invited her to join us. She then collected the material and headed to her next assignment. She took the first batch for the Fourways students and indicated that the next visit will be tomorrow April 2020) at the Menlyn site which our team will be delivering.
In hindsight, it was irresponsible to post a picture without giving a clear context and thereby creating the Impression that it was a social lunch. For this, I profuse, apologize.
I wish to reiterate that my family and I remain housebound and that the foundation will continue making interventions in marginalized communities in our collective efforts to curb the spread of COVID19.

South Africans are convinced the meeting had nothing to do with Covid-19 as stated by Manana. They have argued they have not seem pictures of the personal protective equipment that was handed to Ndabeni-Abrahams
