Manchester United says Dorgu’s recovery is progressing

Manchester United’s Patrick Dorgu Hits Major Milestone in Injury Recovery.

Manchester United has received a significant boost in the final stretch of the Premier League season as winger Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu has progressed to working on the pitches on an individual basis

The 21-year-old Danish international, who has been sidelined since January, has progressed to individual ball work and pitch-based drills. While the club remains cautious regarding a specific return date, this development marks the most significant phase of his rehabilitation to date.

Dorgu’s injury came at what many analysts considered the “breakout moment” of his United career. The young winger had become a central figure in Michael Carrick’s attacking setup, displaying a flair for the spectacular during the winter period.

A stunning strike against Newcastle United that earned him the Premier League Goal of the Month award.

A crucial goal against Manchester City to secure bragging rights for the red side of Manchester.

His last contribution before the injury was a thunderous effort off the underside of the crossbar in United’s 3-2 victory over the league leaders at the Emirates.

The injury, sustained during that high-stakes win in London, halted a momentum that had seen Dorgu become one of the first names on the team sheet.

For the past three months, Dorgu has been confined to the gym, undergoing a rigorous strength and conditioning program designed by United’s medical team. The transition from the treatment room to the training pitches indicates that his body is now responding well to increased physical loads.

In a statement released by the club, Manchester United confirmed that Dorgu is working through a tailored “return-to-play” protocol. Footage released via the club’s official channels showed the Dane engaging in light running and individual ball work, though he has yet to rejoin full first-team training.

Dorgu’s progress comes at a critical juncture for Manchester United. The Reds currently sit third in the Premier League table with only seven games remaining. With the race for UEFA Champions League qualification tightening, Carrick will be desperate to have his most explosive winger available for the final matches of May.

“He continues to work on his recovery with the current aim of being back with the squad before the end of the season,” the club stated.

The timing of Dorgu’s return to the grass aligns with a unique break in the United calendar. Due to a combination of the March international break and the rescheduling of fixtures around the FA Cup quarter-finals, United have faced a lengthy period without competitive action.

To maintain match fitness and tactical cohesion, Michael Carrick is taking his squad to Dublin next week for an intensive warm-weather training camp. This camp will serve as the final preparation for the “run-in,” starting with a high-tension clash against historic rivals Leeds United at Old Trafford on Monday, 13 April.

While the Leeds fixture will come too soon for Dorgu, the sight of the Danish winger back on the grass provides a psychological lift for a squad looking to solidify its status among Europe’s elite for next season. If his recovery continues at this pace, Dorgu may yet have a final say in United’s top-four destiny.
