South African musician, Makhadzi, has left the popular eTV soapie, Rhythm City, hanging after failing to pitch for a performance.
Over the years Rhythm City has been one of South Africa’s biggest supporter in terms of local music. The show plays local music in every episods and also hires local artists to perform. Local artist, Ndivhudzannyi “Makhadzi” Ralivhona was booked for a performance and appearance by the soapie.
“They booked her to perform on set, as is the norm for the show. But she didn’t pitche which meant that the producers had to scramble to find a replacement,” a source told the Daily Sun.
“She was already paid a deposit which secured her performance on the show and she was also going to be in a scene. Producers had to find another artist to replace her at the last minute,” another source said.
Makhadzi drops Rhythm City at the eleventh hour
The musician has actually not yet communicated her reasons for not pitching and dropping the show at the last minute. Makhadzi is reported to be having problems with her record label which may have caused her to not show up for her Rhythm City performance and appearance. However without the Rhythm City glitches, Makhadzi has been having quite the amazing year. The musician has finished building a beautiful home for her mother. The home began construction last year during the lockdown. Last year Makhadzi had problems with her manager, Rita Dee.
Regardless of all the challenges artists have faced with the lockdown, Makhadzi has managed to thrive.
