The girl known as Candy who bullied and assaulted Lufuno has been arrested. This comes after an inquest docket into Lufuno’s death has been opened.
The Limpopo Education awaits a report into a bullying incident that occurred at Mbilwi Secondary School in Thohoyandou. The 15 year old, Candy has been charged with assault. For the past two days #JusticeForLufuno has been trending and the South African community is calling for justice for the deceased.
The viral video which shows Lufuno being assaulted by a fellow student whilst other students are cheering and laughing has hurt a lot of parents. Many feel it is high time more serious punishments are introduced for such bullying cases.

In this case a family has lost a daughter and nothing can bring her back. The victim was found dead by her mother after an apparent overdose. Lufuno When the news got to the school students marched chanting justice for Lufuno. What hurts is that some students who were cheering when Lufuno was being assaulted were marching when they realise the aftermath.
After Lufuno’s death was confirmed Candy posted on Facebook a statement that many think is not right. The post reads,
“Incase you thought you knew everything. Yes it is true. The final statement has been issued by Family, Police and School. Yes I did fight her as I regret but I did not murder her. No Criminal Record, but a warning. So what was you’all saying? Mr and Mrs Knowing it all. Your problem is that you are too quick to judge like you are saints.”
This is a sign that the system needs a change. Candy is aware that she will walk out free legally.
