Thami Ndlala, the husband of radio personality Lerato Kganyago, will have to answer for his alleged fake lawyer career when he faces cross-examination in court in 2024.
Ndlala will finally confront a Hawks officer whom he claims asked him for a R100 000 bribe in 2014.
The businessman filed a complaint against the officer, who was investigating a case where Ndlala was accused of purchasing a Range Rover with fake documents. The officer told Sunday World that he is relieved that the case is moving forward after being delayed for more than nine years.
He said his life was affected by the case, which caused him to be suspended from his job as a cop.
He reportedly only learned about the extortion charges against him after he arrested Ndlala.
Fake documents, qualifications “I was informed by my superiors in February 2014 that Ndlala had laid charges of corruption and extortion against me and that I had to surrender [to police],” said the officer.
The case will be heard at the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Pretoria in March, where the businessman will be questioned.
Ndlala appeared in the same court last week and the matter was adjourned after two days of proceedings.
The court was shown evidence that included fake documents, qualifications and photos of Ndlala practising as a lawyer without proper credentials. Ndlala is known as Mr Valentines for spoiling the Metro FM DJ with lavish Valentine’s Day gifts.
The gifts included renting out the FNB Stadium, which can seat more than 90 000 people, buying her a hotel and flying her to the US in 2022 where he hired RnB singer Maxwell to perform for her.
