Since Lalela Mswane was crowned Miss South Africa, it has been drama after drama for the beauty queen. Amid all the negative energy, she has also made history nevertheless. When the Miss South Africa organization announced that Lalela Mswane was to represent Mzansi at the Miss Supranational pageant, the beauty got caught up in the drama. This time the nation is asking what will happen to the two runner-ups.
Over the past years, the Miss SA organization has given the three finalists opportunities on the international stage. When the competition was done in October last year, Stephanie Weil, the CEO of Miss South Africa, announced that the three beauties would be given a chance to represent the country at the World’s three prestigious beauty pageants. The three events are Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss Supranational.

Lalela Mswane got her opportunity first to compete in the Miss Universe pageant. The beauty queen bagged the second runner-up position making history at the competition. Even though her departure from the country to Israel was controversial, people called for her to boycott the event. Lalela was trolled on social media for that decision to compete. The government withdrew their support from her on the competition. This made it the most challenging pageant for any Miss SA over the years.
What Miss South Africa CEO had to say about the confusion
However, it was announced that Lalela Mswane is to represent South Africa on Miss Suprational. On Tuesday, the CEO, Stephanie Weil, cleared up the confusion that she was going back on her word. In a press statement, she said that the COVID pandemic had made many events to be postponed, and this creates confusion when it comes to competitions. She also stated that it is not uncommon for one representative to participate in more than one international competition. Megan Coleman, Bokang Montjane, Ntandoyenkosi Kunene and Joanne Strauss, only to mention a few, have participated in more international competitions in the past years.
When Maphepha Ndaba, a gossip blog, reached out to Dr Moratwe Masima, the beauty queen had a few shockers to say. Moratwe said that none of the runner-ups would compete in the Miss World pageant. Moreover, the organisation made the decision, and both of them were only told of the decision.
