Khune signs for Orlando Pirates – Fact Check

Itumeleng Khune remains a one club man having been brought up in the Kaizer Chiefs Academy since 1999 after joining as a defender. Khune experienced chest problems while playing as a defender and was reduced to a ball boy. He demonstrated good diving skills as a ball boy which caught the eye of youth coach Terror Sephoa who converted him to a goalkeeper.

Despite losing his position as first choice goal keeper to Nigerian goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi, who featured in most of the current season Chiefs games, Itumeleng is staying put and ready to fight for his position.

Khune admitted his desire to end his fruitful career at Kaizer Chiefs. Rumors in the Naturena corridors suggest the Amakhosi management intend to offer their most loyal goalkeeper a chance to coach in the Chiefs Academy when his playing career comes to an end.

Last week Kaizer Chiefs announced contract extensions for their players, an indication that they intent to keep their important players.
