It appears it never rains, it pours for former OUTsurance ambassador and former Expresso presenter, Katlego Maboe. Months after the outbreak of his cheating scandal, the personality is still feeling the pinch. Katlego Maboe was arrested earlier this month for contempt of court.
When asked on what the allegations were, Katlego’s publicist Lerato Maleswana said the allegations against Katlego Maboe were false and an attempt to harrass and victimise him, causing reputational and economic damage to him. The case stemming from his issues with his ex, Monique Muller.
Katlego’s lawyer, Ellen Louis further said, “my client did not have to appear in court as the charges were false and vexatious and the senior prosecutor decided that there id no merit in the charges. Thid matter is currently on trial and all parties were warned not to communicate with the press therefore we can’t give any further comments as it will prejudice my client”.
The issue stems from Katlego’s battle with Monique following a leaked video of their fight where Katlego admitted to having cheated on her. Monique also claims Katlego was abusive to her, something which he denied. Monique sort a protection order against Katlego. Katlego is said to have violated the court order resulting in him being summoned to court.
As a result of the scandal, Katlego Maboe was suspended by SABC 3’s Expresso show. OUTsurance also removed the TV personality from their ads and as the face of their campaigns. Katlego’s removal from prime screen was not well welcomed by fans who believe he deserves a second chance. A petition was created online and more than 7000 people signed the petition. However, that was not enough to sway OUTsurance and stop them from replacing Katlego Maboe. He has since been replaced by Elana Afrika and it appears to be the end of the road for him and OUTsurance.
