Isibaya Tops Charts As Most Watched Soapie In January On Dstv
No doubt Isibaya has made all sorts of headlines in the better half of last year from a huge slump in views to cancellation. The celebrated soapie cancellation was confirmed and it’s now shooting its last episodes. In the wake of this drama, Isibaya has pulled a shocker as it made it into the top 5 of the most-watched soapies on Dstv.
The new viewership poll has left Mzansi divided. Will this new development make the top management of Dstv to reconsider their decision. According to the latest January ratings, Isibaya was ranked number 5 on the top 10 most-watched shows on DSTV with over 2 million viewers as of January 2021.

The 2 million viewership mark comes barely after the show was struggling to gunner viewers for the past 10 months. A deep slump in viewers for at least 10 months led to the axing of the show which is now airing its last episodes. Mzansi Magic has already announced the new show set to replace the then troubled Isibaya.
Diepsloot telenovela is set to beam on Isibaya time slot and the show has seen itself trending after it lured award-winning-actress Dawn Thandeka King from Uzalo.
A few months ago Mzansi learned that Isibaya was failing to strike a balance of viewership. On the other hand, its ratings had been gradually decreasing in years now. However, late last year Mzansi Magic finally made its decision to pull the plug on the show.
New developments, however, show that Isibaya bagged a number 3 spot on the most-watched shows on DSTV catch-up. It is indeed good news that calls for celebrations. But the celebration is short-lived; especially for show producers and the cast.
Today, Tuesday 2nd of February marks their last day of shooting for the remaining episodes of the show.
