Despite being cancelled by the South African government over her desire to participate in the Miss Universe, Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane has become a global sensation overnight. The 70th Miss Universe Showdown is slated for Sunday 12 December 2021 at the Universe of Dome in Port Eilat on Eilat, South District of Israel.
Against all odds, without the funding of the rainbow nation, Miss SA headed to Israel for one of the biggest modelling contests to prove a point. She made all sorts of headlines when she graced the stage in Israel wearing an angelic costume. The costume made up of feathers represents and advocates for peace amongst Nations and encourages oneness.
That’s how one uses such a platform for the greater good. No doubt, the 24-year-old pulled a shocker with her angelic outfit. She has fast become a global sensation and has seen herself trending. The 24-year old is currently in Eilat preparing for the showdown slated for Sunday 12 December.

She suffered a huge blow when the South African government pulled its support and even suffered criticism from Human Rights activists for attending the Miss universe. Her attendance was seen as showing support to a tyrant ‘ Apartheid state’. However, in the mix of things, Miss SA revealed that the road to Israel want easy and has learnt a lot from the struggles.
Speaking to the Jerusalem Post, the beauty queen has it that there was no way she would miss out on the beauty pageant. Several countries withdrew from the annual global modelling showdown in protest against the violation of human rights. Several human rights violations have been levelled against the Arab nation making all sorts of headlines for the wrong reasons.
The United States-based Miss Universe Organization runs the beauty contest. However, the beauty pageant has an estimated viewership of over 500 million viewers across the globe. It’s one of the big four modelling showdowns in the world. The pageant advocates for “humanitarian issues and is a voice to affect positive change in the world.”
