In Pictures: Gomora actress Zodwa shows off her twin children Ayabonga and Abongile on social media and impresses Mzansi.
Gomora actress Sannah Mchunu, famous for playing the role of Zodwa in the Mzansi Magic telenovela, flaunts her twin children Ayabonga and Abongile and impresses Mzansi. Recognised for her role on Gomora as the outspoken mother of Teddy (Sicelo Buthelezi) and Sibongile (Nandipa Khubone), Sannah struggles to shake off the Zodwa tag off her back even off screens.
Sannah Mchunu’s life story is a testimony of perseverance; having been born and bred in a poor family in Soweto, she made regrettable mistakes in her past. Zodwa was already a mother at 14; at 19, she was already a mother of two and refused to return to school, citing what people would say as an excuse.
“I was ashamed of what people would say, so I never went back to school and never got my matric.”
She fell pregnant with her third child a few months after an attempt to get her back to school.
When her parents passed on, Sannah lived with the father of her fourth child and got pregnant with a fifth child; she left the marriage when the husband started to be abusive. She left all the soft life to find a job back home. Sannah accidentally became an actress; all she wanted to be was to become a cleaner and provide for her children.
Zodwa got her first acting role after accompanying her friend Dr Winnie Khumalo to an audition.
“When we got to the audition, Winnie asked me to queue for her while she was busy with other things. When I got close to the door, one of the directors asked me to audition,” says the Gomora actress.
Sannah told the director that she knew nothing about acting, but he insisted that she do as she was told and nailed the audition.
