Humble and learned: Idols SA host ProVerb’s academic qualifications revealed, leaves South Africa surprised

ProVerb has been on Idols South Africa for over a decade and is slowly becoming one of Mzansi’s most exemplary television hosts. Due to his fame in the entertainment industry, many questions about his educational qualifications have been asked. Well Idols SA host ProVerb is the epitome of hard work and academic intellectual with a cabinet of academic qualifications to show for it.

One can not guess that he is highly educated as he is a calm and humble personality. ProVerb is among celebrities who traded their academic qualifications to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

A look at ProVerb’s academic qualifications

Tebogo Sidney Thapelo Thekisho, famously known as ProVerb, was born in Kimberley Northern Cape. He grew up in a family where his parents believed education was the key to success and ensured their children had the best education. ProVerb’s late mother had two Doctorates in the field of Social Sciences and lectured at the University of the North West. His father is still a practising Medical Doctor, a General Practioner with a practice in The Free-State Thaba Nchu.

Idols SA host did his primary and secondary school at local schools in Kimberly Northern Cape. He passed his matric with good grades. ProVerb completed a diploma in Sound Engineering but went on to do what he studied at Yfm as a Sound Engineer.

He worked at YFM for a few years and later joined Metro FM as a technical and content producer. ProVerb impressed the showrunners of Metro FM, and he was offered to host his show, The Pro-File.

While working for Metro FM, he bagged another hosting gig on Idols SA in 2010; this was his biggest hosting gig, and he co-hosted with Liezel van DER Westhuizen. He became the show’s sole host a year later and remained associated with the reality show.

As ProVerb’s career as a television host was at its peak, he decided to stretch his hands into being a businessman.

ProVerb subsequently completed a UCT course in Property Management & Development, another certificate UCT certificate in Investment Management, and a third UCT certificate in Tax Law.
The retired rapper is currently doing his second year at Regenesys Business School pursuing a Bachelor’s in Business Administration.
ProVerb retired from active music in 2015 but now serves on the board of the Southern African Music Rights Organization.
His awards include a You Spectacular Award for Best TV Presenter, Hustler of the Year Award, Verse of the Year Award and the Prism Gold Media Personality of the Year Award.
