Connie Chiume is beaming with pride after winning her 3rd Lifetime achievement award for 2022. She received a lifetime achievement award at the fourth annual GQ Men of The Year Awards on December 10 at The Leonardo in Sandton in association with Hennessy VSOP Privilège and Standard Bank South Africa.

It is without a doubt that 2022 has been a good year for Connie Chime as she won 3-lifetime awards complemented with international recognition. The award recognises her 45 years of service to the South African television industry and the broader global film industry. Receiving a notable mention from the Honourable Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Nathi Mthetwa, Connie Chiume joins an illustrious list of previous Lifetime Achievers, including Thoko Ntshiga, Thembi Mtshali and Lydia Mokgokoloshi.
Connie Chiume won the SAFTAS Lifetime Achievement Award, a milestone many actors can only dream of. On top of that, she won another Lifetime Achievement Award at the Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards’ HAPA’.
Besides winning three-lifetime awards, Connie Chiume was featured in the hit movie Black Panther Wakanda Forever 2. She jetted to New York when the film was launched and represented her country well.
Talking on the podcast chill with Kind David, Connie revealed that she did not know how big the film was when she auditioned.
I went to an audition not knowing what I was auditioning for. I went there and I was given a piece that I was supposed to do. I could see that this person is an African who was addressing the nation. I wore my African regalia, I learnt my lines. I did my best. I remember those days I used to go to a lot of auditions

She started acting in the 19090’s and her road to fame wasn’t rosy, but she paved the way for herself in the acting industry. Connie’s phenomenal acting dexterities have earned her fame as much as they have attracted several accolades. In 2009, Connie’s role as Stella Moloi on SABC1 landed her the Golden Horn award.
She also received the Best Supporting Actress in a Drama award during the third South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs). In 2000, her spectacular appearance on the SABC1 drama Soul City earned Connie the Avanti award for Best Actress in a Drama Series.
Connie Chiume’s cabinet of awards is a testament to her exceptional acting skills. She is undoubtedly the woman of the moment, and Mzansi is happy for her.
