DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small, the dynamic duo known as the Scorpion Kings, are breaking boundaries once again. Despite skepticism surrounding their friendship and working relationship, they continue to prove their critics wrong. Now, they’re taking their talents to the United States for an exciting tour.
Recently, these music giants hosted a pre-US tour special mix party on the scenic rooftop of Sony Music Group, their distribution company. The event featured support from artists X-Duppy and Mlindo The Vocalist, with Maphorisa’s partner, Thuli Phongolo, also in attendance. The mix provided a glimpse of what awaits fans at the international celebration.
This July, Central Park in New York City will transform into an epicenter of Amapiano music and culture. Themba Sekowe and Kabelo Motha, South Africa’s renowned Amapiano maestros, will headline the event. It promises to be the biggest Amapiano celebration the city has ever seen, scheduled for July 27.
For the first time, Central Park will host an Amapiano event, courtesy of these Mzansi stars. This historic moment showcases South African music on the global stage. Maphorisa expressed their excitement, saying, “We are prepared to make history. The hard work is paying off.” They remain focused on their journey, ignoring social media hate and criticism.
In the music business, both DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small are thriving. Kabza’s hit song “Imithandazo” earned him four Metro FM Awards, including Best Produced Album, Best Collaboration, Song of the Year, and Best Amapiano Song.
