Upile as Poloko in Scandal
In Scandal, she played the role of Mamba’s daughter, who grew up with only her mother and hated her father because of it. In her bid to avenge her poor childhood, she ran for elections Mamba was a part of and was on the road to beating him. She also sought the help of Duma, her half-brother, who then worked for her, helping with her campaign strategy.
After losing the election, she stuck around and had a weird relationship with Mamba, which was tainted by their stepmother Boniswa. After their father’s unfortunate death, they became a family with her siblings and protected each other. Her role left the show after they brought Boniswa to justice for all her crimes against their family and even her own.
Upile uThixo was a teacher before Scandal
Before she debuted as an actress on Television, Upile uThixo used to specialize in Theatre, where she was both an actress and a director. The actress joined KwaSha Theatre Company in February 2020, where she has been till this day. The actress is very learned with two degrees, and it’s only natural that she would know both the theoretical and practical sides of drama and be able to teach them to others with ease.
Before that job, Upile uThixo was a drama teacher at the Diocesan School for Girls in Grahamstown, where she was from January to May 2019. These days she helps other young talents through public speaking and motivational speeches. As an actress, Director, Writer and Vocal artist, she makes her living through work from every side of the camera.
