26 April Uzalo’s episode finally marked the end of Dawn Thandeka King era who played the fears and thuggish MaNgcobo. The seasoned actor who has been with SABC1 hit soapie for years finally called it quits earlier this year. No doubt Uzalo won’t be the same without Dawn Thandeka King.
The fall of the She was a notorious KwaMashu gangster got Mzansi talking. However, her exit came as a shocker when she indicated that she was dumping Uzalo for a new chapter and challenge.
Up to now, the reasons behind her exit are still unknown. She joined a host of seasoned star actors who dumped the hit soapie in the eleventh hour. Her exit comes barely in the wake of Baby Cele and Shibe exit. King posted a video on social media with a caption.

Rumour has it that the mass exodus of star actors was mainly caused by Uzalo’s salary woes. Of late Uzalo has made all sorts of headlines from late payments to unpaid salary woes.

In the wake of her exit, the star actress is making all sorts of headlines on her new gig DiepCity. The new series trending and it got the plug. The drama series replaced Isidaya which was canned after failing to strike a balance in viewerships.
She plays a lead role and she stars alongside South Africa’s fav Rhythm City firebrand Suffocate Ndlovu. Dawn Thandeka King took it to social media to bid farewell to the Uzalo cast, crew and fans. Taking it to social media she had this to say.
“Today is the end of the trip, so it’s a very moving day for me. I’ve been on the show since the first episode. It was also my first telenovela shot in Durban and will forever be grateful of Uzalo“ King said.
“This show stretched me very thinly. As an actor, I had to make choices that I didn’t think I needed to do. But I had the opportunity to grow. Every season, I was responsible for growing MaNgcobo’s character and providing viewers with something different, and I had the opportunity, “she said.
Dawn Thandeka King indicated that she might have exited the show but she hopes one day she will make a controversial return.
