After repeating the same programmes, SABC 1 finally decided to give the viewers new shows, and they’re excited. One of the new shows is a romantic comedy called 13 Days to find Mr Right. One of the lead characters for the show is Bonko Khoza, the man who plays the role of Mqhele on The Wife.
Bonko Khoza’s character
Bonko plays the role of Zakhele in the romantic comedy. He is a flamboyant young man from Johannesburg. His character has a lot of jokes and can’t afford to pay the bill for a date. Mzansi, all over, was impressed with his performance and videos were frequently reposted.
Similarities between Zakhele and Mqhele
Zakhele and Mqhele have an eye for the ladies. Zakhele, similar to Mqhele, is also very charming and can get a lady smitten whenever. Ironically enough, both Mqhele’s and Zakhele’s love interests are journalists.
Similarities between Bonko and Zakhele
Bonko has expressed that, out of all the character’s he has played, Zakhele is the one he relates to the most as they have a lot of similarities. They both live in urban areas with their current living and lifestyle situations. Zakhele and Bonko also have quite a sense of humour. Bonko is wearing his clothes on some of the episodes in the romantic comedy, and that’s so rare. Bonko and his present character are also university dropouts.
Differences between Zakhele and Mqhele
Zakhele is not violent at all; he has zero criminal affiliation. Unlike Mqhele, he’s not too persuasive.
Differences between Bonko and Mqhele
Both men have married Zulu men but, Bonko has a different approach to loving his wife. Mqhele’s marriage was in some dictatorship but, he toned that aspect down a bit for Hlomu as he truly loved her.
Bonko Khoza is one of South Africa’s biggest rising stars. He says this is his favourite role to play so far, and while shooting, he enjoyed every moment. More episodes will air in the coming weeks, and we’ll see how far his talent goes on this one.
