Ab Crazy Biography

Born Tumelo Dibakwane, Ab Crazy is one of the most talented South African Rappers and music Producers. Ab Crazy is famous for producing hip hop hits for artists such as Fifi Cooper, Teargas, Khuli Chana, HHP and Dj Dimplez. The ‘Hook King’ is also popular for his timeless classic hip hop songs ‘home coming’ and ‘walk with me’. He was given the title ‘Hook King’ because of he came up with the hook/chorus effortlessly.

Education and Qualifications

Tumelo Dibakwane popularly as Ab Crazy completed his High school Education (Grade 12)  in the year 2005. Subsequently, he enrolled himself for a Tourism diploma in 2006 with Tshwane University of Technology Nelspruit campus. The hit maker taught himself how to produce music through the  Fruitloops software. Ab Crazy lives a private life as he has refused to release facts about his life therefore little is known about his education.  To this date few writers have attempted to write the Ab Crazy Biography.

Ab Crazy Music

Ab Crazy began his music career in 2002 when he won  the Lowveld Pop Idols Music Competition while in high school. In 2007, he moved to Johannesburg to pursue his musical career. Subsequently, he joined Octave Couplet and produced for the likes of HHP, Khuli Chana and JR. During this period he crafted his own sound and  in 2010 he left the Octave Couplet to pursue his solo career as an artist. Meanwhile he released his first singles ‘I want it all’, ‘Flying High’ and many more. Later on that year he released his first mix tape (Gossip Folks). However, the mixtape was never released but sold privately. The songs got airplay and media on stations such as Ligwalagwala FM and YFM. In 2011, he released his debut music video Man of the Moment as independent. During 2011, AB Crazy also featured, along artists like Pro Kid, Stoan, and Mr Selwyn, in the track by Speedy called “Pop Bottles”.

Ab Crazy at Cashtime Fam

During mid 2011, AB Crazy joined Cashtime Fam and produced some of the Cashtime Fam hits like ‘Goodbye’, ‘Till the end of time’ and ‘Now or Never’. The stable was home to great hip hop artists the likes of Kid X, K.O and Ma-E He was scheduled to release the mixtape “Now or never” before releasing his solo debut album. However, disagreements and jealous in the group made this difficult. During the early months of 2012 he distanced himself from Cashtime Fam to focus on his career as a solo artist. Consequently, he left Cashtime Fam and left the world puzzled with this unexpected move. Although the media made speculations about his departure from this label, he claims it was purely professional. He went on to say that he did not have beef with the artists but there was maladministration. Furthermore, Ab Crazy revealed that Cashtime Fam was a shinking ship. Evidently in 2017 Cashtime collapsed.

Ab Crazy at Kalawa Jazmee Hip hop

After working with Speedy on ‘pop bottles’, Ab Crazy was recruited to Oskido owned Kalawa Jazmee Records by Speedy. The talented rapper made history as he became the first artist to be signed to Kalawa Jazmee Hip hop. Speedy and Stoan created this hip hop division to cater especially for talented hi hop artists such as Ab Crazy. In most interviews Ab Crazy claims that Kalawa Jazmee Hip hop gave him a home as he could produce his music without pressure, criticism or interference . “At the time it didn’t sort of make sense because Hip Hop wasn’t as big as it is now, but I think  they could see into the future, they knew that Hip Hop was coming so they just sort of wanted to prepare themselves I guess. Not only like business but mentally,” said AB Crazy.Till this day, he holds Oskido the owner of Kalawa Jazmee in high esteem. Similarly, the record label is reputable as a major contributor to the development of the Kwaito genre of music in South Africa.

Ab Crazy produced most of his songs and features. Most importantly, he produced Nigerian Emmy Gee’s 2015 hit ‘Rands and Nairas‘ which built a hip hop bond between South Africa and Nigeria. He also produced and featured on Fifi Cooper’s hit ‘Kisses‘ and killed the hook. Moreover, Ab Crazy produced a song titled ‘Emoyeni’ which featured the legendary Trompies. In addition, he collaborated with Vetkuk vs Mahoota, Flabba and Cassper Nyovest on ‘jova’. Ab Crazy produced for most hip hop and kwaito artists in South Africa more than any other producer. The ‘Hook King’ produced tracks for HHP, Kwesta, K.O, Kid X, Pro Kid, Dj Dimplez, Red Button and many more. In 2017 his fans applauded him for the track titled ‘sorry’ which featured The Fraternity. The song is sarcastic as he apologises to his haters for his success.

New Music from Ab Crazy

After releasing his much anticipated second album ‘Blue Skies’  in 2017, Ab Crazy took a short break from music. The album was promoted by the hit  ‘Sorry’ featuring The Fraternity. However, he bounced back in late 2019 releasing the track ‘Overtime’ and claimed that he might release a new album in 2020. Overtime is captioned and quoted by his fan especially the phrase, “the devil is working overtime”. Due to its inspirational nature its slowly becoming viral. The much anticipated video for overtime was dropped in early 2020. The album is expected to feature The Fraternity, Tellaman, Makwa and new kid on the block Costa Titch. On June 18 2020 Ab Crazy gave an epic performance on Channel O Lockdown Party reassuring artists that he is still in the industry. An interesting fact is that Ab Crazy is still signed to Kalawa Jazmee.

The net worth of Ab Crazy is a mystery that is still to be solved. Although hip hop is a genre dominated by ego and bling, Ab Crazy is very discreet with his life. The talented rapper does not show off on social media or in public.
