  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Potato masher
  • Mixing bowl
  • Wooden spoon
  • Stove
  • Fork
  • Whisk

Method

  1. Place potatoes in a large sauce pan ; add enough water to cover. Add 3/4 tsp of salt. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium-low; cover loosely and boil gently for about 15 minutes or until potatoes break apart easily when pierced with a fork. Drain well
  2. Return potatoes to saucepan; shake saucepan gently over low heat for 1 to 2 minutes to evaporate any excess moisture
  3. In a saucepan heat butter and milk over a low heat until butter is melted. Using a potato masher or whisk, slowly mix mixture into potatoes until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Serve!

Notes

Use a good potato smasher which has a got a strong handle - the type with a flat metal grid like smasher will help you smash them up quickly and evenly.
