House of Zwide star ‘Shoki’ Shalate Sekhabi graduates, her academic qualifications stun Mzansi
Kgabang Shalate Sekhabi deserves a round of applause for her recent achievement of obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film and Television. Kgabang, who is widely recognized for portraying Shoki on e.tv’s popular show House of Zwide, was filled with joy as she shared pictures from her graduation ceremony at Wits University. In a touching tribute to her father, she donned the same gown he wore when he graduated from the same institution 30 years prior.
In reflecting on her academic journey, Kgabang opened up about the various obstacles she faced and overcame throughout the years. She spoke candidly about the toll it took on her physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Despite these challenges, she persevered and emerged victorious in her pursuit of higher education.

“The person I am today is not the person I was when I first stepped through these University gates. I am so proud of the woman standing here today, boy is she strong and capable of anything she puts her mind to. She inspires me so much, whenever I am low, I will look back on this day, on this journey and I will pick myself up again the same way she had to, over and over again,” she wrote.
“Oh gosh, there is so much I could say about the challenges I’ve faced throughout the years, and even days leading to this point. It’s been a mentally, physically and spiritually taxing journey, and there were many times where I really thought I wasn’t going to make it here. Thank you to my mom and dad, family and my friends for carrying me through till the end.”
