An official George Floyd autopsy released on Monday ruled that George Floyd, the African-American man whose death at police hands set off unrest across the United States, died in a homicide involving “neck compression”.
George Floyd died of cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression and the manner of death was homicide according to Autopsy report.
The statement added that the “manner of death is not a legal determination of culpability or intent”.
It emphasised that under Minnesota state law “the Medical Examiner is a neutral and independent office and is separate and distinct from any prosecutorial authority or law enforcement agency”.
The Autopsy report revealed Floyd’s other significant health conditions including arteriosclerotic and hypertensive heart disease. George Floyd Autopsy: Drug use was reported in the report, recent fentanyl intoxication and methamphetamine use was detected.

Methamphetamine is a highly addictive and illegal psychostimulant drug that is similar to amphetamine. It is used for its powerful euphoric effects, which are similar to those of cocaine.
Heart problems and stroke
Methamphetamine use increases the risk of heart problems, such as chest pain, abnormal heart rhythm, and high blood pressure. This can lead to a heart attack, acute aortic dissection, or sudden cardiac death, even after using the drug for the first time.
These risks are higher when using the drug with alcohol, cocaine, or opioids.
There is a higher risk of stroke, possibly due to elevated blood pressure or faster rate of atherosclerosis.
