Famous actor Melusi Mbele joined the prestigious Scandal cast in July 2021 when he started working on the production set. The actor was part of the Kubeka family, played by six seasoned actors. The actor is well known for his numerous roles in his successful acting career.

Melusi Mbele plays Jojo Kubeka, a married man constantly being lied to by his family about how they handle business. As if that is not enough, his wife has been playing him for a fool for the duration of their marriage, saying her family cut her off when she married him. It took Jojo several years to finally meet his in-laws and pay his wife Mbali’s bride price, but that too was a lie as Mbali’s uncle lied that he was her father.
Months after the lobola ceremony, Jojo sought his laws’ help with his financial issues, and that is when he got the shock of his life. A series of events led him to uncover that his in-laws lied to him, that they were poor and that the person he knew as his father-in-law was his wife’s uncle. After throwing his wife out of the house, Jojo goes home to lick his wounds and plan for his next move, divorce.
Melusi Mbele’s business empire gets Mzansi talking
The actor is the definition of someone who tried from the bottom in the entertainment industry. After school, he could not land an acting job, so he got any form of work in the construction industry for the 2010 World Cup. After that, he made a living by working at a call centre before landing his first role as an actor.
Mbele landed minor roles on Muvhango, Rhythm City, Isidingo and many others before his first significant role in Isibaya. His character as Bhekhumuzi in Isibaya brought him his first SAFTA nomination though he did not win. The actor is also part of the cast of The Executives, a drama series coming to SABC 1 this August.
Mbele’s age stuns Mzansi
Even though he started late in his acting career, Melusi has made up for the time he did not get any jobs. At the age of 39, he has built an empire for himself and has more big things ahead in his career.
