MoG has been fired by Metro FM, and according to the SABC, the reason is a material breach of contract.
The station’s Business Manager Kina Nhlengethwa said METRO FM would soon communicate who would take over Mo G’s show and send a message of thanks to the crew taking care of the show during MoG’s absence.
Entertainment Journalist Phil Mphela released this news, and his followers didn’t buy the reasons given by the station for letting MoG go.
Fans believe he was let go because of other recent reasons that took place in the DJ’s life.
This is following an altercation with a confident man called Jabu Brown, who allegedly gave MoG his BMW to test drive. MoG was going to test drive the car for a feature on his show called Let’s Talk about it with MoG, and the segment focuses on vehicles.
The problem started when MoG, whose real name is Mpho Modise, did not return the car when he was supposed to.
This led to a situation where the DJ was manhandled. The altercation led to a physical scuffle outside Disoufeng, a popular spot in Soweto.
Things started to get out of control, and the police were finally called to contain the situation. All of this was caught on a video that has since gone viral.
MoG was seen going into a police car as the owner of the car kept saying
“I borrowed you a car, and now you are running away from me.”
Metro FM listeners think this is why he was let go from the station.
“As a public figure who represents MetroFM, Modise has a responsibility to uphold the standards of the station and the SABC; he had it coming,” one tweep said.
Other fans think being let go from the station is unfair; they think the DJ deserves an intervention and that the station should get him to help instead of sending him out on the streets. Some commenters who watched the video think MoG looked drunk and he needs to go to AA for alcohol counselling.
They also think his issues outside work shouldn’t impact his career.
Modise looked like he was cooperating with the police when they were asking him questions, and at one point, the police gave him a request to go to the police station with them, and he agreed.
