Watch: “Somizi and Thembi Seete are not helping me” Idols SA Judge JR cries, hinting at quitting the show
No doubt Idols SA is one of the biggest singing competitions in Mzansi and Africa at large. In recent years it has managed to thrust several celebrated musicians into the limelight, like the Qwabe twins. However, in the wake of its new season, it has been making all sorts of headlines of late.
Before the new season premiere, Mzansi was shellshocked when it was revealed that the showrunners were dumping their lead judges, Unathi Nkayi and Randal, after almost eight seasons with the show. The show had it that it was going on a revamp; hence it needed a new panellist for the show.
However, in the mix of things, Somizi Mhlongo saw himself bouncing back after being cancelled after having a fallout with his estranged husband, Mohale Motaung. Of interest is that Somizi was joined by singer and actress Thembi Seete and rapper JR on the season 18 judging panel.
Host and producer ProVerb confirmed the news with a post on Instagram. Alongside a picture, he wrote: “Your judges for @idolssa season 18 are: The incomparable sis @thembiseete_ producer extraordinaire @jrafrika and the seasoned & multi-faceted @somizi.”

However, it seems like there is trouble in paradise already, and it appears as if JR can’t keep up with the demands of being an Idol’s SA judge.
What saddened Mzansi was the fact that he was also crying. He revealed that he was not good and even revealed that he was not in an excellent space. JR revealed that he wasn’t getting the much-needed help he had hoped for and was hinting about his exit from the show.

In the mix of things, Gomora actress Thembi Seete and fellow judge JR took it to Instagram to shower him with hope. Seete even revealed that she was also finding it hard to settle in but was hopeful for better days to come.
