Vusi Nova has been entangled in a controversy involving his new hit single Ndincede. The hitmaker co-wrote the song with a woman called Tenki-Tenki Mabutho, a 64-year-old from Langa in Cape Town.
Gog’ Tenki co-wrote the catchy chorus of the song. Vusi Nova first performed the chorus of this song to a crowd at an all-white event at Carnival City.
The song came from a viral video of Tenki-Tenki singing the chorus. The song talks about a person asking God to help her stop drinking alcohol.
S’nova fell in love with the chorus and started searching for the woman and found her, and they created the song.
The artist has been sharing videos of his visit to her home with her family present, and it all looked well.
The controversy began when reports of exploitation were made against Vusi, claiming that he gave the woman R3000 and a case of Beer for the song and that her family is now seeking legal intervention. Vusi shared a headline from the City Press on his social media saying, “Vusi Nova’s New song Scandal,” to which Vusi responded on his captions as “No! It’s titled “Ndincede”.
He continued to explain the matter in detail and called these allegations shameful.
The song is turning into an instant hit since it dropped on May 6th.
The artist, also known as S’nova, said that Tenki-Tenki gave him her blessing to sing the song. The two were singing the song together during Vusi’s visit to her home in Langa.
Yesterday, he released a post on his social media pages showing the old lady dancing to his song with her family and thanking him for sending her a mother’s day message and saying he mustn’t allow negativity to stop the song’s progress.
Vusinova, whose real name is Vusi Nongxa, said he bought alcohol for all who came to see him on his visit to Tenki’s home and that he has no idea where the R3000 figure came from. He confirmed that Gogo Tenki would receive 59% of the royalties for the song.
Nongxa is also making the music video, and he is planning to go back to Langa for a scene that will have Gogo Tenki in a street scene.
Meanwhile, S’nova has been on a mission to do damage control from some of his followers, who have been trolling him about the incident.
