After the passing of Shona Ferguson, who is one of the creators and a lead in the drama, the future of the series Kings of Joburg Season 2 was uncertain. Well, you can rest easy now because Connie Ferguson has teased the show’s show’s second instalment on her socials.
Kings of Joburg was released on Netflix in December 2020 to mixed reviews. The cast includes ex Generations star Zolisa Xaluva, TK Sebothoma, SK and Abdul Khoza, Thembi Seete and Bugle Samuel,s to name a few.
Season 2 of the show was in the works and was scheduled for release in December of 2021, but the untimely death of its creator and the co-founder of Ferguson films, who also plays the lead role on the series, halted production.
The story of the series focuses on the Masire brothers who rule the underground criminal world of Johannesburg. Still, a supernatural curse and a web of betrayal put the whole operation under a severe threat.
Connie is also in this series and plays the mermaid. It is unclear right now if the role of Simon “Vader” Masire played so well by the late Shona Ferguson will be removed or replaced in the series.
Some people felt that the series could have been executed better and that the concept was different and unique and one that had never been explored by South African creators before. They felt it need a person with more experience and more vision to execute the idea.
Connie has proven to rise above the loss of her husband and carry on with his legacy.
