The Queen actress Petronella’s age stuns Mzansi
We can all agree The Queen has been making all sorts of headlines of late. She has the plug and the bling too. After the mass exodus of its star-studded cast, we all thought the Mzansi Magic drama series would find it hard to change the plot after some of its lead actors dumped the show in the eleventh hour.
Well, after all, it seems as if they have managed to sail through the storm, and their current storyline has managed to wow Mzansi. However, South African actress Nomathemba Thembisile Matu, who plays the on-screen character Petronella has managed to wow Mzansi with her unmatched flair.
She has been dropping sharp lines capped with kasi lingo of late. The admission of Goodness into the hospital has managed Mzansi to understand Pat’s character better.
After it might be that she understands the situation better than anyone as the storyline comes in the backdrop of Covid woes off-screen. The actress was admitted for more than five weeks after testing positive for the novel virus Covid-19.
Of interest is that she has been in the game for years despite Mzansi starting to notice her unmatched flair on The Queen. Like those before her thrust into the limelight came in the backdrop of theatre plays. She made her small screen debut with a gig on Sekunjalo in 1987. From there, she was winning big. Against her debut gig, she performed plays like What A Shame (1989) and Give A Child (1989).
The Queen actress Petronella’s age gets Mzansi talking
In 2006 she made all sorts of headlines with her on-screen character Nomathamsanqa on SABC1 drama series Tshisa. She played the character up to 2012. However, she made guest roles on several series, like Rhythm City, Zone 14, Gaz’lam, Home Affairs, Zero Tolerance, The Lab, and Jacob’s Cross.
A few years later, she became the darling of The Ferguson Films. The bubbly actress starred in The Wild as “Gertrude”. From there, she featured in Rockville as “Sis Ribs”. Her on-screen role on Rockville saw her being nominated for the Best Supporting Actress in a TV Drama at the 2014 South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA).
She has been dupped the goddess of Mzansi Magic in recent years as she has starred in more than 15 Mzansi Magic drama series. She has been part of the star-studded cast from season 2 to 6. Undoubtedly, her on-screen character on The Queen as “Petronella” will go down into the grave with its fame.
The 55-year old actress was born in 1966 in Katlehong, Gauteng, South Africa. However, it comes as a shocker that she is 55-years old. After all, we can all agree the showrunners played us with the make-up and all because she looks younger than her real-life age.
