Casting News: Uzalo actor Sbu Simphiwe Majozi follows his brother, joins Durban Gen and gets Mzansi divided
Actor Simphiwe Majozi who plays the role of Sbu on Uzalo has joined the Durban Gen cast and is currently shooting his scenes on the etv soap opera. Following the footsteps of his elder brother Mxolisi Majozi known as Zulu boy who played the roles of Last Number on Uzalo and MacGyver on Durban Gen.
Simphiwe billed to set the Durban Gen storyline ablaze with his acting skills and ever-present character. The news of Sbu joining Durban Gen was received mixed reactions from Mzansi soapie fans, some of who called out Stained Glass Productions to stop switching actors across the two sets.
Recent actors to switch across Durban Gen and Uzalo
Recently actress Sibongokuhle Nkosi who plays Thembinator on Durban Gen, crossed the boundaries and to play Ndoni on Uzalo. Causing trouble across the storylines, she wowed soapie fans with her acting skills.
Uzalo actor and director Andile Msomi played the role of Mthunzi. Hlelo’s abusive baby daddy Mthunzi crossed the two soapies and was recently featured as part of the mob baying for Gogo Xaba’s head, whom they accuse of being a witch.
Mxolisi Majozi played contrasting roles; on Uzalo, he was a no-nonsense gangster and Amos’ right handyman, Last Number, who terrorizes opposing forces and do not hesitate to pull the trigger. He joined Durban Gen to play MacGyver, a paramedic at Durban Gen whose dream is to become a DJ.
Thulani Shange, who played the role of Thulani on Uzalo, crossed over to Durban Gen to play intern Doctor Ngcobo who thrived on being the best and was involved in a relationship with Dr Zondo.
Will Sbu leave Uzalo for Durban Gen?
Simphiwe Majozi is set to retain his lead role on Uzalo and features Durban Gen as an extra, most likely as Bangizwe, a troublesome patient at Durban Gen hospital under Dr Jack’s care. Mzansi can’t wait to see how comic Sbu will flourish in a different storyline.
