Pitso Mosimane has ended the year 2021with a bang by winning the Best African Coach of the Year Award from the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) from Zürich in Switzerland. Many congratulatory messages poured in for the South African born coach.
Mosimane has quite an inspiring career in football. The Al Ahly coach went into football as a soccer player playing a midfielder position in 1982 for the South African team Jomo Cosmos when he was 18 years old. He played for various team’s like Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and South Africa national team Bafana Bafana. He retired as a soccer player in 1998 at 35 years of age.

In 2001, the three-time African Champions league winner was appointed as Supersport United’s coach and he held the position until the year 2007. In 2006 he became the assistant coach for Bafana Bafana until 2010, Carlos Alberto Parreira succeeded his job. Mamelodi Sundowns hired him from 2010 to 2012. Then he coached other small international teams. On the 30th of September 2020, Pitso was appointed as the coach for Egypt’s Al Ahly, and so far, he’s been a remarkable coach for the team.

In 2013, the Al Ahly coach was named the Coach of the Season by the Premier Soccer League in South Africa. In 2016, he was named the Coach of the year by the Confederation of African Football. This year he won the Best Manager of the year award in Egypt, and now he’s won the Best African Club Coach of the year by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics.

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarunna won the Men’s Best Goal Keeper. FC Bayern Munich’s striker Robert Lewandowski won the World’s Best Player Award.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach is doing incredibly well for himself globally, and with his hard work, he might be appointed as the coach for bigger soccer teams.
