The 27-year-old Mohale Motaung has had a rollercoaster of a year. It started in January where his drink almost got spiked by a man to social media users speculating about a divorce between him and his estranged husband radio presenter and choreographer Somizi Mhlongo. After his marriages to Somizi in 2020, Mohale faced a lot of social media bullying, with some users calling him a gold digger. In March, Mohale Motaung made his flying aspirations public. He took to the socials to tell his followers he intended on getting a pilot’s license. Many commanded Mohale for the big step he took towards his future.
Abuse allegations against Somizi Mhlongo
In April, Somizi Mhlongo and Mohale Motaung were no longer posting pictures of each other on socials, this bought a lot of speculation, and the couple was rumoured to be getting divorced. Mohale was interviewed on Power FM and canned all the divorce rumours stating that he and his husband were doing well in their marriage. A month later, Mohale revealed gruesome tales of abuse during his marriage with Somizi. The abuse was sexual, and Mohale also alleged being almost killed by his husband using a kitchen knife. In August, Somizi was suspended from Metro FM and Idols.

Mohale’s divorce settlement demands
Mohale wanted a share of Somizi’s estate, including cars, some of the properties and money. The two married out of the community of property, but before their civil marriage, the couple had a customary marriage seen as an ‘ in the community of property marriage ‘ by South African law.
Mohale’s success in 2021
Mohale became a brand ambassador for various brands like Laager tea and others; he also opened his cosmetic range called Elahom Cosmetics by Mohale. In October, he joined the online radio station Opulence radio as the breakfast host. His show airs on weekdays from 06;00 to 09:00 a.m. On the 4th of December 2021, Mohale won the Male Personality of the Year from the African Choice Awards held in Lagos, Nigeria.
