The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is far from agreeing with their supporters on the immigration issue and some of its supporters have denounced the party on social media.
During the freedom day speech, the party leader known as Commander in Chief Julius Malema called on the government to give food parcels to foreigners living in South Africa. He is known to be a Pan Africanist who advocates for one African president for the whole continent. He always encourages the South African government to embrace foreigners.
Some of the top leader in the EFF such as deputy commander in chief Floyd Shivambu has called ‘fools’ to South Africans who do not support their immigration policy. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, the political commissar of the party also refused to back down on their stance on foreigners as #PutSouthAfricansFirst hashtag trended on Twitter.

The debate was sparked by Finance Minister Tito Mboweni who announced that South Africa is going to have a new labour policy that favours South Africans over foreigners. The news was well received in South Africa by many citizens much to the dismay of the EFF party and foreign nationals.

Some EFF supporters who are not agreeing with their party have decided to donate their regalia to others whom they feel are still blindly following the party with ‘bad’ policies on immigration. One supporter said,” Am giving these to any fighter who is still as blind as I was when I bought it,you can have it for free.”

Other supporters have suggested burning the EFF regalia during election period as a show of disgruntlement while EFF supporters are willing to accept the regalia as they are not leaving the party anytime soon.
